Frequently Asked Questions:

Fractional Breaks

What is a Fractional Break?

In a Fractional Break, collectors split ownership of the cards pulled proportionate to their percent purchased. All cards pulled in Fractional Breaks will automatically be sent to auction or sold privately for the highest price possible, as multiple people will own the card. For example, if you bought 15% of a product in a Fractional Break, and all of the cards pulled from said break sold for $1000, you would receive $150 in your store credit balance.

How is the value of the card box determined?

Value of the box/case being opened is based on recent auctions and private sales of loose boxes and sealed cases from the same product.

How do I know what happens to the cards after they're pulled?

Regular email updates will be sent out to all participating customers when cards are sold or graded. GroupBreak has connections with auction houses and private buyers in order to get the highest prices possible without any extra charge or selling fee to the customer. As a general rule of thumb, the lower value cards will be sold privately, while the higher value cards will be sent to auction. Please check our Terms of Service for more information.

How do I get the money when the cards are sold?

An email will be sent out as cards get sold with a description of the specific cards sold and their prices. All cards are sold in a timely manner while still netting the most money possible. A link will be attached in the email to check your "My Collection" page. There, you will see your store credit balance, which can be withdrawn for cash by clicking "Request Cashout" or saved for future breaks.

General

What will I receive from my purchase?

If you bought a spot in a Group Break, you’ll get all cards associated with the team you selected. For instance, if you purchased the New York Yankees, any card featuring the Yankees logo will be shipped to you.

Who should I contact if there’s a problem with my order?

If you run into any issues, please email admin@groupbreak.com. We monitor every card through its entire journey from the moment it’s pulled to the moment it’s placed onto the delivery truck.

What if I don’t pull a card?

Because we don’t know what’s inside the boxes ahead of time, it’s possible you may not hit a card. This is part of participating in group breaks.

How do I know it's legit?

Every break is streamed at https://youtube.com/@groupbreakcom and every part of the process is shown live on camera. All activity is shown on screen, from breaking the seal to sleeving the cards. Recordings/archives of every stream are kept on our YouTube channel as well to ensure legitimacy.

Do you include base cards in shipments?

This varies by product. Please check each listing’s description or ask the breaker in the chat. For example, in 2025 Topps Basketball Hobby, veteran base cards are not shipped due to their extremely high print run and nonexistent value.

How are cards handled when multiple teams are featured on one card?

Some cards show players from multiple teams, which can be challenging in a break. In these cases, everyone with a stake in the card will be placed into a randomization on random.org. Each player you own on the card gives you one entry. For example, if the card has five players and you own four, you have an 80% chance to win it.

How do you assign collegiate, retired, or free-agent players?

College or national team cards are assigned to the player’s current team. Free agents go to their most recent team. Retired players go to the team they spent the majority of their career with. If a player has never played for an NFL team, the card is randomized to everyone in the break.

What happens if a pulled card is from a team that no longer exists?

Cards from defunct teams are assigned to the franchise’s modern counterpart. For example, a Supersonics card goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder; a Milwaukee Braves card goes to the Atlanta Braves.

Which cards are sleeved or top-loaded?

Standards vary by product, but generally patches, autographs, top rookies, numbered cards, case hits, and short-print inserts are sleeved and/or top-loaded.

Where can I purchase from GroupBreak?

You can buy directly from our website, groupbreak.com, where all product openings are also streamed on YouTube.

When will my order arrive?

We aim to pack and ship orders as quickly as possible. Please refer to our Order Terms & Conditions for more details.

My Collection

What is the "My Collection" page?

My Collection is the place where you can see each card you've pulled from every break spot you've purchased with GroupBreak. You can see your Store Credit Balance here as well and request a cashout.

How long does it take for cards to appear?

Cards are inputted during and immediately after the break. You will receive an email as soon as each card is added. Depending on the volume of cards pulled, the cards can take up to an hour after the break's completion. All cards will be sold or auctioned after 24 hours without an option getting selected.

What is the Sell option?

Most cards will have a cash offer attached to it. Clicking "Sell" transfers ownership of the card to GroupBreak and adds the offer amount to your Store Credit Balance.

What is the Ship option?

All cards (outside of cards pulled in Equity Breaks) are eligible to be shipped back to you. If you choose the Ship option, you will be responsible for the cost of the shipping label. All other shipping and handling costs are covered by GroupBreak.

What is the Auction option?

All cards are eligible to be sent to auction. If you choose the Auction option, your card will be sold via an eBay 7-day auction. You will receive an email as soon as the auction goes live and the link will be added to the My Collection page. Upon completion, the net amount (meaning the payout after all fees) will be added to your Store Credit Balance. Custom auction arrangements can be made for high-value cards.

What is my Store Credit Balance?

Store Credit Balance is the amount in store credit that you have accumulated, whether that be through promotions, giveaways, selling your cards, etc. This balance can be used to purchase break spots on our website. You can also request a cashout by clicking the Request Cashout button and filling in your requested amount, preferred payment method, and payment information. Please be aware that GroupBreak is not responsible for customer errors made inputting payment information.

Types of Breaks

What products do you offer?

GroupBreak carries everything a modern collector could want: Case Breaks, Mixer Breaks, Personal Boxes, and more. Breaking formats include PYT, Random Team, Random Division, Hit Drafts, Serial Number, and others. GroupBreak also hosts a first-of-its-kind breaking format called Fractional Breaks.

What is a Group Break?

A Group Break allows collectors to share a box or case by dividing it up by team, division, player, or another format. Instead of buying an entire case yourself, you split the cost, watch it opened live, and enjoy the experience with others.

What is a Fractional Break?

Please refer to the explanation at the top of the page.

What is a Pick Your Team (PYT) Break?

In a PYT Break, you buy the team you want and receive all its cards. For example, if you pick the San Antonio Spurs, you’ll get every Victor Wembanyama card pulled. Team prices are set based on our market analysis.

What is a Random Team Break?

In a Random Team Break, each participant pays the same entry fee. Once all slots are filled, random.org assigns teams. This gives everyone an equal shot at landing top-tier teams for the same price.

What is a Random Division Break?

Similar to a Random Team Break, but divisions are assigned instead of individual teams. Football divisions include NFC South, NFC North, NFC East, NFC West, AFC South, AFC North, AFC East, and AFC West.

What is a Hit Draft Break?

In a Hit Draft Break, every participant receives one hit. Random.org determines the draft order, and participants select their cards based on that order. For example, spot #2 would give you the second pick from the box.

What is a Serial Number Break?

Each collector is assigned a serial number corresponding to the first digit of a card’s printed numbering. For example, if you hold number 6, you get cards numbered 6/10, 6/25, 6/99, etc. The number of spots depends on the product.
